Rachel Carson's profound and prophetic 1962 book "Silent Spring" sparked enivironmental activism. In it she documented the dangers of pesticides on our air, land and water. Aside from this watershed book, Ms. Carson is considered to be one of the very best nature writers. In addition to Silent Spring, are a list of her wonderful bestselling nature titles.
